FAQs

What waxing services do you offer?

Many areas of the body may be waxed: eyebrows, forehead, lip area, cheeks, chin, back, upper/lower leg, underarms, forearms, bikini line — even hair on the knuckles of fingers and toes. To increase your comfort and satisfaction with your Spa waxing service, we have prepared this short guide. We hope you find the following information helpful, whether this is your first waxing service, or you receive them regularly.

All of our hair removal treatments are performed by licensed estheticians, and uses only state-of-the-art equipment. All tools, equipment and instruments are medically sterilized between uses. Our sterilization method ensures that our instruments will be 100% free of HIV, fungus, bacteria, viruses and spores.

What is the Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian wax removes everything in your nether regions, front and back, leaving you completely smooth everywhere under your underwear. With a Brazilian wax, you'll never have to worry about "escaping tendrils" again. Because you only need about a quarter-inch of hair for the wax to grab onto, start by using small scissors to trim down your pubic hair to a shorter length.

What are the benefits to Brazilian waxing? You'll feel all clean and shiny, and you'll be slick and sexy during intercourse. The results will last anywhere from ten days to three weeks, with no maintenance, and there's no shave that can get you this smooth. The resulting re-growth hairs are typically softer and sparser.

What will happen during my appointment?

If this is your first waxing service, or first experience having a particular area of your body waxed, please let your esthetician know so she can guide you through the process. Once in the treatment room, you will need to expose only the area of your body that is going to be waxed. Feel free to ask your esthetician how much, if any, of your clothing should be removed. For an underarm wax, please wash off deodorant/anti-perspirant prior to your service; it stops the wax from adhering properly.

Before the waxing begins, your esthetician will apply a pre-treatment to cleanse and sanitize the skin. Be sure to inform your esthetician if youhave any skin condition or are taking prescription medications such as Retin-A®, Accutane®, antibiotics or any other medication which may cause excessive skin irritation.

What kind of wax will be used on my skin?

We use Hard wax, heated until it reaches the consistency of molasses, and contains ingredients such as lavender and Aloe Vera. Hard wax is uniquely suited for removing hair from the entire body, as it cools, it "shrink wraps" the unwanted hair for easy removal and maximum comfort. Perfect for all skin types, especially for sensitive skin.

How should I prepare for a hair removal treatment?

To assure ease in removal, the unwanted hair must be at least ¼” long. For body waxing, plan to exfoliate, or scrub, the area to be waxed on the day before your treatment, to slough off dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs. Women should avoid waxing during the three days prior to and the first three days of their periods; the skin is most sensitive during this time. For the Brazilian or Bikini wax, hair must be no longer than ¼ inch. This request is mandatory to minimize pain and discomfort. Should your spa tech need to trim your hair to the appropriate length, be prepared to pay an additional expense of $10.00-$25.00.

Does waxing hurt?

Because the unwanted hair is removed from the root, it may hurt a bit. If you are especially sensitive to pain, you may want to take an anti-inflammatory (such as ibuprofen) before your appointment. We do provide a spray on anesthetic for you by request for an additional minimal cost.

Why should I choose waxing over other non-permanent hair-removal methods?

Unlike shaving, waxing removes the entire hair, which, with consistent waxing, may then take up to four weeks to grow back. Hair that has been shaved may grow back feeling more coarse and looking darker — but the hair that grows back after waxing often feels softer than it did before.

How should I take care of my skin after the treatment?

For body areas, exfoliate the day after your hair removal treatment, and twice weekly thereafter, to help prevent ingrown hairs (which are especially apt to occur in the bikini area). Bath-and-shower scrubs with tiny scrubbing beads seem to be particularly effective.
